No More Stone Towers on Tenerife Beaches

Tenerife Royale Estate Agents S.L. Are pleased to report that following the efforts of volunteers the removal of hundreds of the man-made stone-tower rock piles on Jardin Beach in Puerto de La Cruz have been removed due to the detrimental impact they have on the environment. The stones have been returned to their rightful place. The 'towers' have also been built by tourists along the beaches of El Beril in Costa Adeje. Environmentalists state that by moving the stones from their 'natural habitat' is a hazard to the island’s flora and fauna. The council of Adeje are aware of the situation adjacent to the El Beril beach and a spokesman said ‘There is a plan to remove these towers in Adeje too, but this cannot be done by anyone. In order to protect the environment, it needs to be carried out by experts with a team of volunteers. No date has yet been set although it on the agenda’.
